In Bangladesh shops look like heaven with their large variety of affordable traditional handicrafts. In the ancient period muslin produced in Dhaka was well acclaimed. Various  items like wood work, cotton, jute, Gold and silver (filigree work) ornament, silk, gold, silver, contemporary paintings, shital pati (mattress having cooling effect) cane and conch, shell items, folk dolls, handloom fabric, printed saris, bamboo decorative pieces, deed and leather goods are very popular with art and craft lovers. Since then the tradition of handicrafts got carried on adding up another valuable gem ‘The Pink Pearl’ to its lineage. Even today it is the best-buy commodity in Dhaka.   

Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (NTO) runs duty free shopping centers in Dhaka and at the major airports. These shops sell a wide collection of products at reasonable prices. Goods available are wine, spirits, perfumes, cigarettes, stereo systems, cameras, watches and house appliances. The shops also accept foreign currencies.

The music and dance of Bangladesh since its development has been divided into three parts namely classical, folk and modern. The classical type of music and dance exhibits influence of common classical ways of the Indian subcontinent and accordingly this proves that music and dance in Bangladesh got inspiration from dance forms like Bharata Natyam and Kuchipudi. The folk and ethnic music and dance of the region are original and belonged to Bangladesh culture. Some dancing styles like Manipuri and Santal are in fashion in the north-eastern part of the Indian subcontinent but Bangladesh has also created and developed its own separate dancing styles. Traditional folk songs and music are very famous among Bangladeshi people. They use several musical instruments such as flute, drums, ektara, dotara, guitar and saxophone. Drama is equally popular in Bangladesh.

Cricket, football and kabaddi are popular sports in Bangladesh. Cricket is a largely popular and exciting game for the people of this nation. The cricket team of Bangladesh has joined the best team of other countries suitable to play test cricket. It has become the top ninth team in the world. The national cricket team is also popular as the Tigers since the Royal Bengal Tiger also has his home there. Kabaddi is the national game of this country. It is played by two teams of seven players each. In the Asian Games 2006, the Kabaddi team won a bronze medal.

Many other sports are organized such as hockey badminton, tennis, handball, volleyball, chess, wrestling, weightlifting, squash, billiards and snooker.
